Kody’s passion for music, particularly drumming, began at an incredibly young age. Some of his earliest memories involve sitting on his father’s lap as a toddler, gripping drumsticks while his dad played along to classic rock legends like Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd. Even at 3 or 4 years old, Kody was unknowingly laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong journey in music.
At age 5, Kody and his family relocated to San Diego, where his connection to music grew even deeper. But it wasn’t until he was 12, when he rediscovered his father’s old drum kit gathering dust in the garage, that his drumming journey truly began. From the moment he set it up, there was no turning back.
Entirely self-taught, Kody threw himself into learning by ear, jamming along to anything and everything in his headphones—from the classic rock that inspired his earliest memories to the aggressive sounds of ’90s and early 2000s metal and hardcore. This unique blend of influences shaped his drumming style, which combines the groove and precision of classic rock with the raw energy and technical prowess of modern metalcore.
Kody’s drumming has been heavily influenced by legends like John Bonham, Lars Ulrich, and Nick Mason, while also drawing from the intensity and innovation of progressive, metal and hardcore drummers like, Virgil Donati, Mario Duplantier, Justin Foley and Gavin Harrison. His ability to merge old-school soul with modern aggression has become a cornerstone of Enola Reven’s sound. Known for his hard-hitting, groove-heavy approach, Kody crafts dynamic drum patterns that seamlessly weave complex rhythms with crushing breakdowns.
Beyond his role as a drummer, Kody is deeply involved in Enola Reven’s creative process. Whether writing rhythms that complement the band’s intricate riffs or experimenting with new techniques to elevate their music, he’s constantly pushing the boundaries of what metalcore drumming can achieve.
As Enola Reven continues to evolve, Kody remains committed to taking his craft to the next level. Fueled by the same passion that first drove him to pick up a pair of drumsticks, he’s focused on creating music that not only defines the band’s sound but leaves an unforgettable impact on listeners.
